Argument reflection
The general flow of the discussion felt bumpy. at times it was a group discussion, others people talked with soley another individual, and there were huge gaps of silence. The fishbowl idea was good, however i found it hard to interrupt anyone, or talk in the gaps of silence, since I was going off a simple script prepared the class before:
Script for farmer.
Script for farmer.
- The promoters lied to me. I thought I could make an honest living in this new world, and if it wasn't for the 1616 virginia company and colonists’ great adjustment:
Company gave up directly trying to control the land and workers and instead permitted colonists to own their own land to grow what they wanted; I’d’ve starved. Now you look me in the eye an tell me how my wife and kids can get by without my pay with the likes of her (point to convict.) runnin around an teachin em sin.
Yall indians dun goofed: 1622 in Jamestown, y'all showed up an killed the livestock an burned our plantations. I almost went bankrupt all over again, not to mention fearin for my life. I don't want that for my daughter. She ain't done nuthin to yall.
I feel like we equally presented our points, and took care to explain them so no one was confused, and we all left not much left to wonder about the time period.
