Deep, sunken eyes stare from the wells of black, pouring out into the street, chasing the sun with horrible moans. They coat the houses, the cars, they cover your body. You can't see them, but they watch you, their feet creaking, their sharp claws catching your eye before they hide. And when they catch you, they release a bloodcurdling scream. or so you think. Because you don't know what's there. Because you can't see in the dark.

It all began with the greatest Pirate ever. He was not a heinous person, but he was certainly no saint. To Captain Silver Mantle, being a pirate was all about the art of thievery. He was so skilled in his craft, he could steal the grout from a church’s stained glass windows. He was hated by both the navy and pirates alike, going rouge and following his own religion: stealing enough treasure to become a god. Treasure from other pirates that is. He was a pacifist of sorts, as well. Rather than murdering his captives, He had them take their own lives, walking the plank.
